Cape Verde Overview

One of the main attractions of these islands is the crystal clear water bathing its sandy shores, ideal for all kinds of water sports, Cape Verde has long been a haven for divers, sport fishermen and windsurfers from all over the world. Other activities include trekking, horse riding, golf or simply soaking up the sun whilst relaxing on one of the numerous paradisiacal beaches.
Cape Verde is made up of 10 islands and 8 islets, they are of volcanic origin and are located 450 km off the coast of Senegal, western Africa. There are 2 very different types of islands, the first group of islands with a more mountainous terrain include Santo Antão, S.Vicente, Santa Luzia (disabitata), S.Nicolau, Sal and Boavista, the second group located more to the south comprises the islands of Maio, Santiago, Fogo and Brava.
Each island offers something different to holiday home hunters and investors a like, and they are sure to be a popular winter sun and year round destination in the years to come. One thing that all islands have in common though is wonderful weather, beautiful beaches and fantastic food.
Only a five and a half hour flight from the UK, with direct flights starting to the islands in December 2005, Cape Verde is based in the Atlantic Ocean, below the Canary Islands, with sandy white beaches and beautiful mountainous landscapes just waiting to be explored.
